Set back from the Tropicana just off the strip and within a stones throw from the MGM Grand and New York New York, Hooters is a real treat for all you Hooters fans, It has got the buffalo wings and the girls, but what’s going on though? Where were the orange shorts? Black seemed to be de rigour on our visit and some of those girls were a little past it to say the least.

Check in was confusing, we walked up to what looked like the reception and got told we needed to go to the other end of the casino, after lugging our luggage all the way across the casino, past all the old boys on the tables, we eventually came across another reception desk, only to be told we needed the reception the other side of the casino. WHAT!! So off we went again.

We didn’t have a reservation and were swiftly booked in and relieved of $299 + Tax, watch out when big conventions are on prices go through the ceiling.

Room:

Hooters is a small hotel, it only has 711 rooms and is about on a par with Travelodge or Holiday Inn Express, done on the cheap and uninspiring, the rooms are clean and adequate, the beds are comfortable but the linen is cheap. The bathrooms are pretty much the same, cheap and cheerful, the bath is small with a shower over the top, single sink with a reasonable array of give aways, shampoo and lotion and to my surprise a manicure set to.

Gaming:

Not a much to say really, Hooters with tables, small and friendly. The minimums on the tables start at $5 and go up to $10 at busier times and at the weekends and the slot machines start from a penny and go to $5. Service from the hooters girls is pretty good but if you are hanging around too long the bar is close to the casino and the drink prices are reasonable.

Dining:

We played it safe and ate in the Hooters, you get the standard Hooters Fayre, wings, burgers and ribs, the food is average but the girls make up for it. If you feel like grabbing something a little more up market, try Dan Marino’s Steak House, it isn’t as fancy as its competition on the strip but it’s the best Hooters has to offer.

Overall:

Small with a friendly atmosphere, Hooters fans will love it. Watch out as the room prices aren’t the cheapest in town and you could stay in better surroundings for less.
