»Service is great
One of the original Las Vegas resorts the Flamingo has a tropical setting in the heart of the strip, unlike the newer neighbouring hotels the Flamingo has held on to is vast light display outside and if pink is your favourite colour, you’ll be right at home here.
Well placed it sits alongside, Paris, Caesars, the Bellagio and Bally’s, it is certainly in the thick of it and with 3642 rooms and suites it is a good size resort, with a mix of all ages and good priced rooms, expect to pay from $99 to $150 depending on the time of the week you wish to stay.
Rooms:
The standards of the rooms can be a bit hit and miss, this hotel has been extended a few times now so some rooms are a lot older than others. They are all clean and of a reasonable standard but try and blag one of the Go Rooms which feature plasma screen TVs, I Pod docking stations and tricky radio alarm clocks, the bathrooms are also more palatial, they boast TVs, big baths and separate showers, you also get slightly better freebies.
Gaming:
The casino was on the small side compared to others in its proximity and seemed a little overcrowded for my liking, it was certainly busy but had a pretty good atmosphere. You can bet from $10 up on the tables and the slots start at a nickel. For such a busy place the cocktail service was good, the hotel has made sure it has plenty of staff and you don’t have to wait too long.
Dining:
For such a large resort, there wasn’t that great a selection of restaurants available and they are all busy. What they have got is well priced and the service is good.
Steakhouse 46 has a romantic setting and serves great steaks and a good selection of seafood including live lobster. It gets pretty busy so I’d recommend you reserve a table. Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville has live entertainment on most evenings and has a menu full of Caribbean/American style fare; it is open at lunch times and evenings, expect to pay around $15 for a main course. For Asian cuisines give Pink Ginger a try they have offerings, which include Japanese, Thai and Korean. Ventuno Ristorante, café & Bar, the café opens daily from 7am and the bar from 5pm, it serves home made pastas and fresh seafood, again book to avoid disappointment.
Overall:
Starting to look worn out and tired but the service is great and the location spot on.
