Imperial Palace

Review this hotel

A contempory tower hotel set in the centre of the las Vegas strip, the Imperial Palace is built to look like a traditional Asian style property, it looked more to me like an overgrown restaurant in china town. The hotel is starting to look very old and the wait for check in can be excessive to say the least. Most of the lifts are really slow especially the ones in the Casino and all the public areas smell of stale cigarettes, the service is far from top end either, room service can take an age but I have to say the staff are all very helpful. The greatest thing about here is the location; you are in walking distance of all the Las Vegas greats.

Rooms:

The rooms are adequate but uninspiring, they are kept very clean but have only the minimum of furniture and essentials. You get an iron and ironing board, hair dryer and an alarm clock and that’s about it. I thought the interiors were awful, full of chintz and melamine furniture, just as granny would like it! Try to avoid the rooms at the back of the property, they over look the car park and feel more like motel rooms, the best and only rooms you should look at staying in are the ones in the first tower, you get loads of noise coming from Harrah’s outside stage which you can hear just about everywhere apart from the first tower.

Casino:

The casino is a good size and you can is one of the cheapest places to play on this part of the strip, was not well lit and felt quiet and moody. Table minimums start at $5 and the casino offers all the tables you will ever need, the slots can be played from a penny up, hence you tend to see your budget gamblers and blue rinse brigade here. The cocktail service is pretty good.

Dining:

There is not the biggest selection of eateries at the imperial palace but what they do have is fairly good, they all get busy and booking is recommended.

Cockeyed Clam is a New England style restaurant serving a wide selection of fresh seafood dishes at prices to suit all pockets. Embres is renound to be one of the top steakhouses in Vegas, it serves a variety of meats and seafood and opens from 5pm. Ming offers Manerine and Cantonese cuisine and Fireside is an American style chophouse, prices are middle of the road.

Overall:

A great place to crash in on a budget.
