Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino

MGM the owners are kind of offering an affordable no frills option to the strip, which I think works pretty well. You get the full service of a really good hotel, where the staff are both friendly and accommodating and the service is better than average. For a hotel with over 3000 guest rooms check in was extremely quick. We paid $99 for a one night mid week stay in a deluxe room, which we thought was great value.

Rooms:

Monte Carlo Las Vegas rooms are average in size and a little bland, but are kitted out really nicely; you get everything you need, including great beds with ok linen, TV, iron and ironing board and good views of the strip. The bathrooms are also nicely finished with a bit of marble thrown in for good measure, they are a little on the small size and basic and there is no separate shower or flat screens but there are a good selection of freebies.

Gaming:

A good size casino that is well designed and easy to get around, there is around 90,000 sq ft of gaming that offers plenty of tables and slots, the punters are mainly middle class Americans, so the atmosphere is not as exciting as some of it’s rivals. The cocktail service is fair to middling and they are not the quickest when it comes to getting a fresh drink.

Monte Carlos casino offers some of the lowest minimums this end of the strip, tables start from $5 and you can play some of the newest slots from a nickel upwards.

Dining:

Andre’s French restaurant has a world class cellar, a cigar lounge and a great French menu, it is all well priced but you are best to book a table as it can get busy. Diablo’s Cantina serves up both Mexican and American classics, has a wide selection of tequila and live music. Monte Carlo Pub and Brewery, cheep and cheerful snacks to be washed down by copious amounts of average American beer, open until 4am. Dragon Noodle Co. for a variety Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine, this place is well priced and tasty.

Overall:

Great value for money.
